I came across these cookies by sheer accident. While shopping at a Super Wal-Mart, the packaging caught my eye. I had not seen the Lawdy Miss Clawdy brand before and so, I called an expert-my father, Monroe S. Frederick, who is a walking encyclopedia of Black Entertainment history. Thirty plus years as a staff photographer with Jet/Ebony magazine helps too. So with out any hesitation, he told me about Lloyd. Apparently in the 50's he was a one-hit wonder.
Elvis used his song as well. His hit song was "Lawdy Miss Clawdy."

Miss Clawdy made it into Wal-Mart. I shop at Wal-Mart for one reason-to get
things at a reasonable price. I was in shock when I saw the price of 12 cookies. It was almost six bucks! Curiosity got the better of me. I had to taste these sweet potato cookies. The adage that "Cheap stuff is not good and good stuff is not cheap" proved to be untrue this time.
Here is my review of Lawdy Miss Clawdy sweet potato cookies: It seemed like
a tasty idea to add sweet potatoes to them. We have experimented with sweet
potatoes and they add a smooth texture and palpable finish to dishes. With Lloyd's cookies, I was greatly disappointed. The cookies had an overpowering flavor of typical candied yams spices. I love the smell of cinnamon and allspice, but when it is intense its horrible. It reminds me of vanilla extract-it smells great but tastes like medicine. These cookies would be great for those who are on a diet. Why? You will be only able to eat one or almost one.
